You killed it可不是“你把它斩首了”！

今天我们要研习的短语跟kill有关。一听到这个词，我们第一反应就是“处杀害”、“处残暴”等“血腥暴力”的词语。

所以看到You kill it，大家就很自然而然地以为是“你把它处杀杀了”。

其实这句话是老美常见的一句语气词，表示“干得漂亮”、“Slay全场”、“显出惊艳”等意即。

例如：

You kill it!The show was incredible.

你的显出太棒了！演出堪称极致！

Kill这个词语，在印度语，尤其是顾名思义俚语之前的能用比较普遍，而且意即也极为灵活多变，很多时候，它的意即需要已为语境和说话人的语气而定。

例如：

This massage is killingme.

这个按摩舒服杀了。

Can you stop talking? You are killingme.

你能别说话了吗？我太快被你烦杀了。

They want me to work this weekend—ugh, killme now!

他们不想让我这周末加班——啊！处杀了我吧！

印度语之前，与kill有关的俚语还有：

👉 Dress to kill：

Very well-dressed and fashionable, typically in an attempt to impress other people.

穿着讲究、多愁善感，不想要引起他人的注意。

例如：

I he to be dressed to killat this event tonight—a lot of important people will be there.

我打趣一定要盛装闭幕，因为很多重要人物可能会在场。

👉 Kill the clock:

In sports, to protect a lead by using up as much possible time that remains in a game or match without giving the opposing team a chance to score, generally by maintaining a passive or defensive strategy.

球类之前，领先一方为了保持占优势，在剩余时间里采用过激控进球的对敌，尽量让对方无法进进球。

例如：

With just a narrow two-point lead, the home team is trying to kill the clockto hold out for a win.

因为只领先2进球，所以下一场仍然在无济于事，保住胜利的果实。

👉 kill the goose that lays the golden egg(s):

To ruin or destroy something that brings one wealth.

毁灭给自己造成了个人财产的想像，处杀鸡取卵

例如：

Firing the programmer who created your most successful app is l ike killing the goose that lays the golden egg.

这名程序员开发了这款极为事与愿违的应用软件，如果解雇他，就如同处杀鸡取卵。
